On behalf of the Alliance, I want to say hello and happy Pride Month!

As we begin the Pride season here in the Rose City, I want to encourage everyone to get acquainted with the information and resources we have gathered here. During Pride season, it is clear that safety is an important part of our festivities and gatherings across Portland and the Pacific Northwest. The Alliance wants you, your family and friends to concentrate on the good times, while avoiding any potential incidents.

For the past three years, the Alliance for Safer Communities has been undergoing an increased marketing campaign, both within the LGBT and the law enforcement community. We are happy to report that incidents of reported bias crimes have continually decreased. Meanwhile, the Alliance has secured real victories with law enforcement policies and strategies regarding Oregon’s LGBTQ and allied communities.

This year, we again plan to distribute safety brochures and palm cards that provide information related to emergency help and services – should you need them. We will also continue to keep you informed by updating this website with critical information, including reports of new incidents of hate-crime and violence against members of sexual minority communities.

Please feel free to contact us with questions, concerns or issues you may want us to address by emailing us info@saferpdx.org. We hope that you enjoy the Pride Northwest festivities!
